A Heat-Wave Emergency AC Call Can Push a Northeast Repair Near $500

Peak-season surcharges of 50–100% compound hardest in the regions where base invoices are already the highest.

Summer is the worst time to need an AC tech. Angi and HomeGuide's 2026 guides note that June–August work runs at full retail with 50–100% emergency and peak surcharges, plus week-plus waits for non-urgent jobs.

Emergency-season AC invoice by region, at the 75% surcharge midpoint.

What that does to a regional invoice

Applied to our Property Meld 2025 regional base invoices — Northeast $284, West $251, South $214, Midwest $197 — at the 75% surcharge midpoint, a heat-wave emergency call reaches roughly $497 in the Northeast, $439 in the West, $374 in the South and $345 in the Midwest. The surcharge compounds hardest exactly where base invoices already run highest.

The operator takeaway is preventive. Pre-season tune-ups and locked vendor rates convert a ~$500 reactive invoice into a fraction of that — and remove the week-plus wait that turns a hot unit into a retention problem.
